One of the more interesting things about blogging is that there are many different ways that you can sell products. There is however an overarching theme that permeates all the different aspects of blogging; that is that need to be patient. Returns will be slow in the beginning, but if you show a little bit of gumption and stick with it you will have the opportunity to create a fantastic career for yourself that pays a lot of money and allows you to work from home.
Let's face it, people looking to make money blogging are doing it because they don't want to spend eight hours a day at work. They find an office setting to be stifling to their creativity and indeed their soul.
These folks find the traditional office environment to be untenable. They need the freedom that working from home provides, and spending eight hours a day at the office just doesn't work for them.
To get started blogging you absolutely have to figure out what kind of a blogger you want to be. Fortunately, this is not a difficult process. If you want to be a creative blogger that you just need to pick something that you enjoy doing and then write about it. It's that simple. If you love reading then start a book blog, if you love dogs then start a dog blog. That's really all there is to it. Pick something you are passionate about and then go for it. Just make sure you're truly into the topic so you don't end up fatigued and want to stop writing. Content is king, so your content needs to be fresh and good.
There are other types of blogs, blogs that are designed purely to make money and not be a creative outlet. These types of blogs are much more structured and much more driven on research about what people are searching than they are on your creative endeavors. This format of blogging isn't right for a lot of people, but if you have the wherewithal to stick with it, it is the most profitable.
It doesn't really matter what kind of blog you're looking to write, you're going to need advice. Advice beyond which you can get from reading a simple article. Most first-time bloggers are very discouraged by the low revenue they generate within the first month and give up. This is the wrong thing to do, but without good advice they don't know how to fix what they are doing wrong.
The Internet is home to lots of great sources for information and with a little bit of searching you can find both free and paid content that will help you along the way. Both sources of information are legitimate and you shouldn't think that because you are paying for advice you are necessarily getting scammed. Oftentimes when you pay for help you get additional tools and resources that are not available for free.
What's really important if you want to make money blogging, however, is to sit your butt down on the chair and start typing. If you're not producing content you won't be making any money.
